Well, ladies and germs, I did it. I managed with a messed-up computer (which was entirely my own fault; and besides, I pledged to myself, when I bought this computer in 2003 and paid it off in 2004, that THIS, this right here, would be the computer upon which I would write my dissertation; and so it has been).
Yes, indeed. I have completed The Great Work for now. I have distributed, defended, and deposited my dissertation – and then I walked in the hooding ceremony, and stood up and applauded during the very lame commencement ceremony. I don’t care. Now I have official pictures and documents to the effect that I hold a PhD and EFFING NO ONE CAN TAKE THAT AWAY FROM ME.
I’ll be honest and explain to you that I really did feel as though I were scratching and clawing my way through entirely new territory. I made a lot of mistakes, but I have also pledged that I shall rectify them when I am revising/rewriting my “opus” into a book that may be read and digested by all. That much is within my power to grant – to myself, to my work, to you.
And so, thank you, for your support and readership over the years. And you and I both shall look forward to much to come…

Yes, at my Master’s commencement this week I was very envious of my professor’s hats. I just got the paper one still. Again, congrats to you! I’m so excited my Twitter friends are also finishing up at the same time as me.

My daughter, the doctor. So glad to have witnessed all of the pomp and circumstance.
